As part of The Better You Series’s Career Week, EMBARK College hosted an insightful and empowering session titled “Career Guidance through Psychometric Test” on June 13, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. This meaningful event was facilitated by two dynamic professionals from Glocal Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Amish Poudel, Program Officer for the PCGS Project, and Ms. Puja Gupta, Project Officer at Glocal, both of whom brought a fresh perspective and deep passion for helping youth make informed career choices.

This session aimed at demystifying career planning by using psychometric testing, which is an effective instrument as it is used in determining the personality characteristics of an individual, their aptitude, and interests, and thus allows them to identify the right career to pursue. Since the students tend to be overwhelmed by the variety of opportunities and social pressure, the session allowed the students to remember themselves, learn more about themselves, and make a choice in an informed fashion.

The session was opened by Mr. Poudel, who presented the point of existence of psychometric tests and that these are more than conventional approaches to career choice. He stressed that although career development is influenced by performance in school and other external factors, self-awareness is the real base of long-term professional satisfaction. He gave explanations regarding the format of the test and the manner in which the test measures the intellectual aspects of personality, such as emotional intelligence, areas of interest, as well as cognitive ability.

Then, Ms. Gupta guided the students as she interpreted the test results regarding each student individually. She added that there is no single personality type that is superior to another, and each individual has a specific set of strengths, which work in some job contexts and roles. In an easy-to-understand manner, she guided the participants through the myths associated with personality profiles and provided an illustration of how an individual could match traits to any career type in the industry, be it artistic and creative fields or technical and analytical fields, be it a people-oriented career or a non-people-oriented career.

The session was designed to be interactive, and students were encouraged to reflect on their profiles and engage in meaningful discussions with the facilitators. Mr. Poudel and Ms. Gupta both presented a relatable experience of their own career path, with the commonality of trial and error and final revelation crystallized in the message that career planning is not a step-by-step process but a progressive one. The best part about the session was that it bridged the gap between psychological awareness and action. Students were not simply given a report; they were advised how to take action on it, what it entailed, be it pursuing an internship, mentorship, or academic realignment. The facilitators also shared clues on how to set short-term goals and long-term goals depending on their career interest groupings and natures. Notably, they pointed out to students that the result of a psychometric test is a guide and not a label that they should feel like being prescribed.

After an hour, there was energy, curiosity, and a new sense of direction in the room. Not only did the students leave with a test score, but they also left with a better understanding of themselves and a guide so they can start to chisel out a career that will fit them rather than what is expected of them.

This session perfectly aligned with EMBARK College’s ongoing mission to cultivate self-aware, proactive, and well-prepared professionals. By partnering with Glocal Pvt. Ltd., the institution once again demonstrated its commitment to holistic student development, career readiness, and personal growth. The Career Guidance through Psychometric Test session was not just an assessment; it was a moment of clarity, confidence, and commitment to personal evolution.
